My open water marathon swimming journey has inspired others to set aside their fears of failure and dive-in to pursue their goals and dreams. Success comes from breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable components. Knowing your limitations is key…because, on your way to success – you will exceed those limitations. Someone once said that the world belongs to those who show up. The path to success starts by just showing up. But, having the drive to succeed isn’t everything. It is having the drive to prepare to succeed. My journey to swim across the English Channel, around Manhattan, and across the Catalina Channel didn’t start on shore – but, many, many years ago. Perseverance and hard work along every step of the journey leads to success.
I have had the pleasure of being invited to speak about my open water marathon swimming journey to a number of groups. If you are interested in having me speak to your group – please feel free to contact me.
I love it. What a way to inspire others in yet another way other than slogging the miles and miles.
Courtney, Courtney, Courtney, This is Lourdes, we met at Uncle Bills Pancake House before your swim. I would like to see if you have time this week to come talk to the swim team kids in Hawthorne. My daughter swims there and the coaches are all ocean swimmers. Its where John York use to swim too. SOBA, http://www.southbayswimteam.org. The kids practice from 5-6:30 every weekday. Your adventure and achievement is so inspiring and a perfect timing for these kids to listen to you.
Thanks, Lourdes 🙂

Courtney you are an inspiration to all! I know you will do well over the next several long hours. May God put a hedge of protection around you as swim. I expect to hear you did it in record time.
Swim well,
